Innovation Fund grant ensures Marbles Lost and Found support group can continue

The Devon Mental Health Alliance Innovation Fund has been awarded to Marbles Lost and Found by our Community Mental Health Development Leads in Plymouth & West Devon.

As outlined in a previous feature on our website, Marbles Lost and Found is a mental health information hub and community website which now runs its own support group and other activities for local people. Nicky launched the site back in 2018 and it has now grown to be a popular community interest company in the Devon mental health space.

When awarded the grant as part of our Innovation Fund, Nicky commented:

I am so grateful for this funding as it means that the Marbles support group can run for a second year, offering anyone touched by mental health the chance to be listened to, heard, and supported in a safe, non-judgmental space.

In her original application for funding, Nicky described her work as follows:

My project is to continue my daytime support group at the Moments Café for anyone 18+ who has been touched by mental health, whether that be a professional or lived experience.

My support group is different than other support groups, as I work closely with other groups and organisations, bringing them into the group to do workshops and talks. I also have a buddy system in place to help those struggling to attend.

The support group is about educating those who attend about the different ways you can support yourself and one another with wellbeing tips, tools, and coping strategies. It also focuses on how to productively live with your mental health struggles, breaks down the stigma, signposts to other organisations, and is a safe, non-judgemental space.

If you work for a VCSE organisation in any area of Devon that is working towards delivering innovative support to people experiencing severe mental illness, why not apply for an award from our Innovation Fund? Grants of up to £800 are available.
