HOPE course demonstrates improvements in outlook and confidence

Dee and Jess, two of our Recovery Practitioners, within the Devon Mental Health Alliance, have recently delivered a course called HOPE: Help Overcoming Problems Effectively. Developed by Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, this programme is designed to support individuals to manage their health and wellbeing, aiming to boost self-confidence and resilience, enabling participants to cope better emotionally, psychologically, and practically with their conditions.

Please see below for some comments from the course participants:

First session, I remember we all got shown speech bubbles filled with previous people’s experiences through this Hope programme and I commented saying “it seems fake” or “it looks fake” as in they are just made up, they are not real comments and I guess that was because of my very negative mindset.
But after this 6 week course… I happily take that back and retract my negative comment.
As how I feel now… afterwards… their comments are true. It is possible to feel positive.. it is possible to accept and believe that there is hope, because it’s true.

Additional comments from the HOPE participants:

Jess and Dee….. have been absolutely amazing, supportive, pleasant, kind, understanding and most of all non-judgemental.

There are three different ways of attending a HOPE course: in-person, virtually over Microsoft Teams, and digitally as a self-guided course. You can find out more about HOPE and sign up for available dates below.
